The Five Loops

DEEP divides the campground into five loops named for shore birds: Heron, Egret, Crane, Osprey and Seagull. Each loop has its own restroom and shower building and its own water supply. On DEEP's campground map, Crane and Egret are the northern pair nearest the entrance road, Heron is in the middle, and Osprey and Seagull are at the southern end, closest to the path to the beach. The two tent-only areas are lettered sites near the southern end, beside the amphitheater and a small nature trail.

What Each Site Has

Every site, open or wooded, has a picnic table, a fire ring and a grate. Sites hold up to six people, and the longest stay is 21 days. DEEP's statewide camping rules allow no more than two motor vehicles on a site, with no overnight parking for a third.

Amenities

The Rustic Cabins

The three cabins have two rooms with a double bed and two sets of bunk beds. They sleep four comfortably and up to six; DEEP's description lists the beds and nothing else, so plan as you would for a campsite. For 2027 the cabins are bookable from Sunday, May 23 to Sunday, September 20, for a minimum of seven nights, Sunday to Sunday only, and they close after September 20. On top of the nightly rate ($70 Connecticut resident, $80 non-resident) you pay the processing fee, a 15% occupancy tax and a refundable $50 security deposit at check-in.

Season Dates

How to Reserve

Book online through ReserveAmerica or by phone at 1-877-668-CAMP (2267). The processing fee is $9 for a reservation and $3 for a walk-in. DEEP charges another $9 to cancel or change a booking. The person named on the reservation must be at check-in, and the name cannot be changed later. Every vehicle stops at the camp office to register on the way in. Campground questions: (860) 739-1339.

Rules Campers Ask About

Bikes

DEEP suggests bringing bikes: the campground's paved loops and the path to the beach make it easy to get around on two wheels.

Before You Go

Day-use fees, the beach and the gate hours are on their own pages: parking and fees, beach, hours. Dog owners should read dogs before booking, because the campground does not allow them.
